Met Police Bushey created a history on Tuesday 23rd June 2009 by reaching Watford Observed Shield finals for the first time. Met Police continued their brilliant run in the tournament by registering an emphatic 88 run win over Watford Haidery ‘II’ at West Herts’ Park Avenue ground. Met Police batting first posted 150 for 7 in their allocated 14 overs of 8 balls each. Stand out performance of the innings was an excellent fourth wicket partnership of 73 ball 118 between Lawrence Holmes (49) and stand in skipper Dave Soulsby (27). Watford Haidery II never got around building a partnership and kept loosing wickets at regular intervals, their chase was made even more difficult by a disciplined bowling and fielding by Met Police. In the end Watford Haidery II were all out with 61 runs on board in 9.1 overs. Met. Police’s exciting journey to 2009 finals includes dramatic win over last year’s champion Hemel Hempstead in the quarter finals and win over hot favourite Watford Town A in the first round. On the other hand Harefield’s Thursday’s win over Watford Haidery I in the second semifinal has set up an exciting Shields finals at Watford Town cricket club on Tuesday, 7th July 2009. Met Police “Shabba & Boris Barmy Army” plans to paint Watford Town cricket club in Green on the 7th July evening in anticipation of an exciting Watford Observer Shields finals. |
