MPBCC 3rd XI began their 2009 season in style with a thumping win over Leverstock Green IV.

Playing first game of Saracens Herts League 2009 on the home ground, Captain Dave Halsey lost the toss and was put in to bat by the opposition. Dave Tanner and Sid Anwar gave the team a brisk start, with few runs on board, team decided to push the paddle a bit and were encountered by a minor collapse of sorts when in quick succession team lost, Dave Tanner, Andy Burrows, Dave Halsey and Mark Britt, but by then Andy Murphy had dropped his anchor and was building an industrious innings playing all around the wickets, accumulating runs steadily. With some help from the lower middle order Andy Murphy took the total to an imposing 191.

Leverstock Green began their chase but were encountered by some steady bowling by Dave Halsey and Mike Burke, eventually Mike got the break thru and with every falling wicket task seemed even more arduous, as runs were hard to come by for LGCC. One of the most commendable display of outstanding commitment was presented by some middle and lower order colts players of LGCC, all of them offered lot of resistance, but in the end with slight helps from Andy Burrows who took couple of wickets and held three catches LGCC were bowled out for 72 runs offering a huge 120 run win for MPBCC 3rd XI.
