The Metropolitan Police Bushey Sports Club is one of 4 Police Sports Club associated with the Metropolitan Police Service. Built in 1967, Bushey is a purpose built members sports club offering sporting, leisure and social facilities for family and friends of serving police personnel, retired officers and staff. Our sports club was constructed on land bought from the Royal Masonic School for Boys, currently the American University building, which unfortunately closed in 1977 due to declining numbers. In the early days of the sports club, the Police Cadets were used to hunt for and remove flints by hand from the playing fields. This was done to avoid injuries to players of both rugby and football.

Jim Howard and Trevor Turnbull decided in the summer of 2000 that the Metropolitan Police Bushey Sports Club needed to provide regular competitive cricket for it members, who were mostly representing Paddington Police Cricket Club at the time. In line with the other sports sections using Bushey Sports Club as a home ground, Paddington Police CC was re-named Metropolitan Police Bushey Cricket Club and a new era began.

In 2005 a new Captain took over and with new players now bedded in the 1st XI secured the Division 9 Championship without loosing a match. 2005 rapidly became the most successful season had enjoyed on the pitch with the club coming runners up in the Watford Observer plate final. In the same year the 2nd XI and 3rd XI both achieved promotion. This success was recognised by the Saracens Herts League who awarded the club the prestigious Presidents Trophy as Hertfordshire Club of the Year. The 1st XI followed up in 2006 by breaking all points scoring records in the Saracens League history by winning the Division 8 title with an unprecedented 100% record. This season also saw the introduction of colt’s cricket into the club.2007 was another unbeaten season for the 1st XI as the Division 7 title became the 4th Championship and 5th promotion in only 7 years, currently the 1st XI are at the top of the league in Division 6.

Conveniently located within a short distance from the M1 (junction 5) and A41 North West of London, the 35 acre Sports Club provides excellent facilities for sporting events, team games and social occasions. Membership to Bushey is open to all current / retired police officers and staff, their friends and family. With such a diverse membership base alongside sports and recreation being part of the lifeblood of the MPS, it is no surprise that The Metropolitan Police Bushey Sports Club is renowned for its contribution to camaraderie and team spirit.
